2013 Rivers-Marie Summa Old Vines Pinot Noir

This thankfully didn’t suffer the extreme reversal of yield
fortune the regular Summa did.  It’s down
but only to a more normal level of 1.5 tons per acre.  We’ve said this before but we’ve run out of
ways to describe this wine.  It’s the
broader version of the regular Summa.  We
always attribute it to vine age and we are sticking with that idea having come
up with nothing better to explain the depth of this wine and its confounding,
corresponding lightness.
